How it Works
Pulsar is a mechanism within the NS1 DNS platform that ingests real user performance measurements from actual end users. It takes measures of latency, throughput, page load time, or other QoE metrics from users to the application or content delivery end points. Those end points can be data centers, cloud instances, CDNs, or all in combination. Pulsar then builds a dynamic “map” of performance to those end points based on the geolocation or network ASN of the end users. When a user makes a request for content or an application service, Pulsar knows which delivery end point will perform best for that specific user and the NS1 platform routes the user accordingly. Pulsar keeps its “performance map” up to date by continuously taking RUM measurements from the end users it is routing.
