NetBox Cloud: Network Source of Truth

Every network resource, in one place

Drive NetDevOps with an Authoritative Network Source of Truth

Every NetDevOps journey starts with an inventory of network assets and how they work together - a Network Source of Truth. NetBox forms this source of truth for everything on your network, from physical components like power systems and cabling to virtual assets like IP addresses and VLANs. Network automation and monitoring tools draw from this authoritative plan to push out configurations and monitor changes across the enterprise.

NetBox Cloud is an enterprise-grade, hosted offering of the open source NetBox solution that NS1 currently offers to selected design partners.

What Does NetBox Do?

Comprehensive Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)

Gain visibility and control across the entire enterprise

IP Address Management (IPAM)

Efficient management of IP assets across the enterprise, removing the danger from data entry errors

Customization and Integration

Customize and extend NetBox's functionality to fit your needs

Comprehensive Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)

NetBox documents every physical infrastructure component, providing a complete picture of assets and how they connect to one another. This map of the ideal network state forms the baseline for a wide range of automated tasks like configuration checks, monitoring, and much more.

Supported NetBox DCIM components include:

  • Sites
  • Racks
  • Hardware (rack-mounted devices)
  • Cabling
  • Modules (device-installable components)
  • Circuits
  • Wireless LANs, groups, and links
  • Power panels and feeds

IP Address Management (IPAM)

Just as it maps the physical components of a network, NetBox also documents IP addresses and ranges to reflect the ideal state of device connections across your infrastructure. Using NetBox as a source of truth for IP address management, standard network automation platforms like Ansible and Terraform deploy configurations against that plan.

NetBox tracks and manages a wide variety of IPAM components, including:

  • Regional internet registries (RIRs)

  • Prefixes

  • Prefix/VLAN roles

  • IP ranges

  • IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

  • Network Address Translations (NATs)

  • Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)

  • Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) objects

  • Route targets

  • First-hop redundancy protocol (FHRP) groups and assignments

  • Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs)

  • TCP and UDP services
