What You Should Know About the NS1 and AppDynamics Integration

With NS1 and AppDynamics, avoid application infrastructure issues before they impact the user experience

When application infrastructure issues threaten to disrupt the end user experience, it’s critical to track down the problem and act quickly. But, it’s not always easy to do, especially in today’s distributed and diverse application delivery environments.

This is why we are so excited about a new integration with AppDynamics, a part of Cisco. This integration enables our joint customers to identify and automatically steer application traffic away from potential infrastructure issues before they impact end users. The result is a more reliable and performant user experience while improving IT efficiency through automation.

Here’s how the integration works:

With the NS1 integration for AppDynamics, businesses can use AppDynamics infrastructure monitoring data to optimize how users connect to applications automatically in real-time. By combining AppDynamics' real-time infrastructure insights with NS1's intelligent application traffic steering decisions, businesses can ensure that users only connect to available and healthy application endpoints. For example, if AppDynamics detects a potentially unhealthy application server condition, such as high CPU load or high memory usage, it alerts NS1. NS1 then avoids resolving DNS requests to that specific server until the issue is addressed. This enables automatic detection and early intervention on potential application delivery issues before they impact the end user experience.

How the AppDynamics and NS1 works

The NS1 integration for AppDynamics can help improve application delivery in public cloud environments and reduce the risk of cloud migrations, including applications deployed in Kubernetes clusters in the cloud. Using insights from AppDynamics cloud monitoring agents, NS1 can automatically steer application traffic away from problem spots or “roll back” to legacy on- premises infrastructure if cloud application delivery performance does not meet expectations.

How AppDynamics and NS1 Work Together

Earlier this year, AppDynamics announced its alignment with Cisco ThousandEyes, a digital experience monitoring company, to provide complete end-to-end visibility of the application experience. We also announced our own NS1 integration with Cisco ThousandEyes.

Together, AppDynamics, Cisco, and ThousandEyes provide complete end-to-end visibility of the end user application experience across network, cloud, and global IT environments. Now, combined with NS1, businesses can implement full-stack observability with automatic, real-time adjustments and insights to assist with navigating changing conditions across the internet, cloud, networks, and infrastructure. Together, NS1, AppDynamics, and Cisco enable enterprises to deliver consistently exceptional application experiences while driving efficiency and automation.
