Changing User Demands and Streaming Services

Streaming traffic surged in 2020, and this trend is expected to only continue through 2021, according to a recent survey from Dan Rayburn (in partnership with NS1). Michael Balderston of TV Technology summarizes the key findings from the report, including the top challenges facing teams tasked with ensuring an optimal end-user experience - check out his article for more: NS1: Top Streaming Challenges are Traffic Management, QoE. You can also download the full report here.

Network Infrastructure Modernization

Building agility into your infrastructure to meet changing user demands is important for nearly every company these days, not just those that provide streaming services. Lindsay James provides an in-depth look at how companies can build more flexibility into their infrastructure in a recent article for ITPro: Infrastructure Is Everywhere — And So Is Your Data.

However, it can often be difficult to get your board’s buy-in for the investment needed to modernize your IT infrastructure. Nick Cross offers tips on how to present your case to the board in his article for ITPro Portal, Making The Modern Network For Next Generation Applications A Must For The Board.

One reason to modernize infrastructure is to enable more automation within your organization. According to Vala Afshar’s article in ZDNet, integration is often the biggest stumbling block for companies looking to automate more processes - check out his article, Digital Transformation, Innovation And Growth Is Accelerated By Automation, for more.

DNS Resiliency

A key reason to go through the network modernization process is to improve the reliability of your delivery network by building in more redundancy. However, recent research from Carnegie Mellon University shows that out of the top 100,000 websites on the internet, 84.8% still rely upon a single DNS provider. Catalin Cimpanu outlines other key findings from the report in his article for ZDNet, Four Years After The Dyn DDoS Attack, Critical Dns Dependencies Have Only Gone Up.
