We try to make the process of moving your DNS over to NS1 as easy and painless as possible. If your current DNS provider allows you to export zones in the commonly used zone file format, then you can simply click on "Create a New Zone" in the NS1 portal and choose to import from your zone file. For a detailed description of the required format, check out this handy Wikipedia article.
If you've been managing your own DNS with BIND or other DNS software, you likely already have your records in zone files in the appropriate format and can upload your zone files to NS1 on this screen.
We'll automatically create all the associated records. Just note that zone files only capture Static DNS records, so you'll need to configure Filter Chains for any Dynamic and Intelligent records on your own. You can, of course, manually configure your zone by creating a blank zone and adding records.
